Poster Deconstruction

This poster is a good example for an action comedy poster, it features the main character who is in his "super suit" making him look badass but he's posed in a way that makes him look silly which is basically Deadpools entire persona so when someone sees this and goes to see the movie they would see what they saw in  the poster.
The tagline is good because it, once again, demonstrates Deadpools character:
"BAD ASS" - He's a badass
"SMART ASS" - Tells the viewer that he's a smart mouthed guy who doesn't shut up.
"GREAT ASS" - Which misgiving the viewer the overall tone for the movie, an adventure along side a comedic super hero. The placement of the title also draws attention to is behind making the joke more noticeable.
The white background and is good because you can see the titles and the main character clearly, the colour white is also a connotation of a good guy or hero. However when you look at Deadpool with his Red and Black suit you will then question if he is in fact a hero or a villain, and to answer this question you'll have to see the film.
The way Deadpool is holding his holstered gun represents him as violent but in contrast he wears a black backpack with pink highlights saying he's some what childish and the way he's got his finger in front of his face makes him seem weirdly cute or charming.

IDEAS - ANIMATION

Animation is a very useful top for film making as you can literally do what ever you want with it, however we don't have access to any high quality himation software as they are mostly out of our price range. The extent of 'animation' for our film will have to be things like stills of small tweaks to create some minor effects.
But we'll have to wait until we've finished the basic stages of editing in order to actually start adding animation.
unfortunately though we have so little time left we might not be able to do it at all.

Gen the bounty hunter from hell decides he'll need to take up his blade once again when sadistic monsters disguised as humans come to the world of the living and attack each other in the streets of Streatham.
He must tam up with his old friend Saitama King and use utilise his powerful punches in order to save the world of the living.

Research and Planning

Research for an action comedy

Acton movies nowadays usually have some comedy in them anyway, but movies that are action comedies have a good balance between the two.

Deadpool was a one big slapstick movie where its action lead to comedy and the main character would also tell small jokes or make comments towards the audience which got a good laugh.

Movies like London/Olympus has fallen are movies packed to the brim with action but have some funny lines in the movie which as well as make a comedic atmosphere show off the main character as a sort of badass.

Hot Fuzz is a good example of an action comedy as the main character is so good at what he does its funny, the side characters he meets are funny too because they make the main look even more unbelievably perfect in comparison. The action scenes near the end were also good as the would use the tropes of "defeating an enemy and delivering a small cuss to poor salt on the wound".

22 Jump Street had some great moments using the main characters bromance as a sort of catalyst for jokes.

Johnny English was another good movie for its comedy, the bumbling secret agent archetype was a great choir for that inns of movie, leaving an important task in the hands of an imbecile.

COSTUMES - VILLAINS

As for the villains I was thinking something that makes them look like thugs or mysterious shadows.

COSTUMES - HERO

For the Hero I'll need a superhero costume, one that's simple or homemade

or he could just be dressed in casual day clothes with a weapon or distinguishing accessory.

I don't think we should do a serious hero costume because it might be too difficult to get a hold of and it might go against that feel of the main character; a hero for fun and man bored with average life.

LOCATIONS

Some locations that I have in mind is my house for the hero's home and the park across the road from my house for the encounter with the villain.
The tall building used for the establishing shot can be the building of flats on Amen Corner, I know someone who can get me up there to film theses shots.

THE INTRO

The intro for this movie will be like a look into the life of an aerate joe who is a superhero.
The main character Brian Hawk will be shown adjusting to the day with a dramatic build up to when he comes to the bathroom mirror, then you just see his tired face brushing his teeth and washing his face.
Cut to the top of a building and an establishing shot of the town, where explosions and police sirens are heard.
Cut to Brian watching the news and eating breakfast in his casual day clothes, he gets a message about a villain coming towards his area and he finishes his breakfast quickly, he the sets off to find him.
Cut to a forest-like area where the villain is running saying he escaped from the authorities. Brian appears and asks the villain if he's strong. The villain replies with "What? Why are- whatever just get out of my way!"Brian insists that he give up and the villain attempts to smash his head in with a bat.
Cut to black and you here a punch and a scream.
Cut to Brians home where the villain is tied up and gagged with Brian playing a video game and waiting for the police to arrive, after looking at how pathetic the villain is Brian wonders; "what happened to all the good villains... (cut back to the top of the building) Can't anyone give me a challenge..." and a cloaked man walks into view.
Cut to a low angle shot from the streets below and the cloaked man walks out of view.

Synopsis for a superhero movie

Some ideas hat we had were:

1. A weak hero who wants to become a famous hero like Superman. He gets beaten constantly by villains and the other heroes laugh at him, but when he needs to save a loved one he must become stronger and seek help from his fellow heroes.

2. Brian Hawk "hero for fun", is ing through his normal morning routine in his home. Whilst he adjusts to the day something bad is going on in his part of town. Whilst watching the news he is notified about this assailant and is ready to pursue it. He then goes on to dispatch of the villain and returns home wondering, "what ever happened to all the good villains?. He is thinking of giving up the hero thing but he is approached by a mysterious man who tells him he can be used to fight real threats, this intrigues Brian and he goes along with him. The fight against evil has begun!

Hero Ideas

We don't have access to any super specie effects or professional costumes so we are looking for simple costumes and powers that we can film without the need for CGI.

Some heroes that are simple that we can take notes from are:
Watchdog Man - a strong guy in a dog suit.
King - a regular guy who has been overhyped by rumours
Silver Fang, Bang - an old man with martial arts

About Me

Hey, I'm Josh,

I'm doing a superhero comedy movie with Aidan Hassett, I chose to do a superhero movie because I like unusual or supernatural things. For example:

I love anime a lot and my favourite is a superhero anime called One Punch Man a story about a hero who is so strong that being a hero s simply a hobby to him.

Deadpool however is probably tied as my favourite superhero (tied between him and Saitama from One Punch Man) simply from ho funny he is.
